AgrAbility Project Assists Farm Workers with Disabilities
Have you been disabled as a result of working on the farm? Do you need help with retraining, on-the-farm assessments or assistive technology as a result of a disability? If so, you’re not alone. Many farmers are disabled on the job, yet they are able to remain gainfully employed with the help of organizations such as the National AgrAbility Project.
The National AgrAbility Project assists farm with disabilities in achieving independence as they continue to work on the farm. There are 24 state and regional AgrAbility projects. Each project has the same objectives:
- To help disabled retrain
- To help disabled gain access to treatment and rehabilitation
- To offer support to disabled ’ family caretakers
- To provide direct services, such as training and practical assistance, to through individual consultations.
All Injured Farm Workers are Eligible for Help
All farmers with any type of disability are eligible to receive AgrAbility services. Whether your injury is physical, mental or involves an illness, AgrAbility is available to help you.
