New Facebook Resource Collects Stories About Injured Farm Workers

Farm accidents are so common there’s even a Facebook page dedicated to them: Stop Farm Accidents.

Launched in 2012, the website is dedicated to collecting stories about injured farmers.

The site collects stories about Irish farm injured or killed on the job and offers videos that detail first-hand accounts of “rushing against time, working alone, taking just one risk too far.”

“Most farmers think [accidents] will never happen to them,” Stop Farm Accidents says. “Then reality kicks in.”

Although Stop Farm Accidents is a product of the Irish Health & Safety Authority, the stories, safety tips, links to safety courses and a make-my-farm-safer risk-assessment test are useful for farmers around the world. You can also share your own story with the click of a mouse.

The resource has attracted 530 “likes” since its inception in 2012 and is most popular with youth farm.
